Ghirlandaio dipinse queste tre affascinanti scene narrative del 1479 per la base (predella) di un'importante pala d'altare commissionata dal fratello Domenico, per la chiesa di San Giusto alle Mura fuori Firenze. Altre due scene sono note; il pannello principale è negli Uffizi di Firenze. Secondo la leggenda, alla sepoltura di San Zenobius un albero morto è nato alla vita quando è stato toccato dal santo"s bier. Il battistero e il campanile (campanile) della cattedrale di Firenze forniscono l'ambiente. Firenze appare sullo sfondo della scena in cui Tobias cattura un pesce le cui nanne guariranno la cecità del padre.
