Nel 1908 Maurice Denis acquisì una proprietà a Perros-Guirec. Da allora, ha soggiornato nella regione ogni estate e ha dipinto instancabilmente il paesaggio locale. In questo lavoro del 1914, mostra i contadini al lavoro nei campi del grano. A giudicare dalla forma dell'isola di Tomé sullo sfondo, la vista è stata dipinta da Louannec, sul lato est del porto di Perros. La luce bianca fa emergere l'arancione contrastante delle orecchie di grano, il verde chiaro dei campi, e il blu turchese del mare e del cielo. Nel 1906 Maurice Denis riferì a Claude Monet nei seguenti termini:
