Questa immagine drammatica è del grande pipistrello di frutta indiano (Pteropus giganteus) esposto frontalmente con un'ala fuori-stretched. Il corpo è mostrato in notevole dettaglio, con la pelliccia del pipistrello, occhi, artigli arriccianti e venature ala naturalisticamente articolate. Questo lavoro è strettamente legato ad un'altra immagine di un pipistrello dipinto dal noto artista Bhawani Das, che è stato addestrato in miniatura Mughal e commissionato da Sir Elijah Impey, Chief Justice of Bengal (1774–1782), e sua moglie, Lady Mary, per fare estesi studi di storia naturale presso la loro tenuta a Calcutta. È stato forse fatto da un seguace di Bhawani Das che ha lavorato in modo leggermente più naturalistico.
