Ritratto del presidente Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), 16th Presidente degli Stati Uniti fino al suo assassinio il 14 aprile 1865, di John Wilkes Booth. Il presidente Lincoln è raffigurato come “Il grande emancipatore”, seduto con la proclamazione dell’emancipazione davanti a lui. Sullo sfondo, viene mostrata una personificazione dello spirito di libertà che calpesta e spezza le catene della schiavitù, prefigurando la vittoria dell'Unione durante la guerra civile americana e la fine della schiavitù.
