Georgina Alice ‘Ina’ Gregory (1874-1964), artista, nacque a Melbourne, figlia di barrister, studioso e teologo amatoriale, John Burslem Gregory e sua moglie, Alice. Contro i desideri della madre, Gregorio studiò alla National Gallery of Victoria School e frequentò le classi gestite da Emanuel Phillips Fox e Tudor St George Tucker alla Melbourne School of Art e a Charterisville a Heidelberg. Un ritrattista specializzato in paesaggi e viste sul giardino, esibisce dal 1898 al 1912 con la Victorian Artists’ Society e nel 1907 Exhibition of Women’s Work. Per alcuni anni lei e sua sorella Ada vivevano insieme sul retro della casa di famiglia, Rosedale, in relativa isolamento; credevano nel karma, e miravano a 'una vita intellettuale ed emotiva, sollevata molto sopra la materialità di un'esistenza media.' Nel 1908, secondo alcuni conti, Gregorio era praticamente notturno. Ha scritto un romanzo, Blue Wings, evocando la sua vita come studente della Melbourne School. Dal 1938 al 1948 Gregory e un collega pittore, Jane Price, vissero insieme a Rosedale. Dopo la morte di Price, Gregorio era assistito da un compagno pagato, che condivideva la sua visione spirituale non ortodossa.
