Nato in una famiglia di pittori, Ciceri si alleò con il suo grande zio, Eugène Isabey, che stava esplorando paesaggi nella sua opera. Durante questo periodo, Isabey e Ciceri hanno condiviso i quartieri di vita nel quartiere Pigalle a Parigi, dove sono stati entrambi influenzati dai loro compagni residenti: Théodore Rousseau, Jules Dupré, Narcisse Diaz, Johan Barthold Jongkind e Jean-François Millet. La pittura paesaggistica di Ciceri, che divenne la base per il resto della sua carriera, rifletteva le preoccupazioni tipiche di questi artisti innovativi tra cui la conservazione dei paesaggi rurali e incontaminate della Francia, come l’esempio attuale.
