Basquiat era un bambino precocissimo, e all'età di sette anni, sua madre gli diede una copia dell'Anatomia di Gray, che in seguito utilizzò come riferimento per creare le sue figure magistre e distrutte. In questo dipinto, Basquiat ci presenta un volto a forma di teschio. Anche se completo di occhi, naso e denti, il dipinto ci dà l'illusione che il volto è incompleto, e le ossa da sotto la superficie stanno attraversando esattamente come i colori in background. La testa è piena di graffiti illusori di Basquiat, dando l'impressione che ci siano forme e figure all'interno del viso, ma su un'ispezione più stretta, il volto è un frammento di linee e forme astratti.
