Questa scena, insolitamente aneddotica per un'opera di Eugène Boudin, descrive la semplice vita di campagna presso l'azienda Saint-Siméon di Honfleur, vicino a Le Havre. Nel 1854 Boudin affittato spazio lì e riunito seguaci di pittura plein-aria. Gustave Courbet e Claude Monet si unirono poi a questa colonia dell'artista sull'estuario della Senna.
