Coppedge, che ha studiato con William Merritt Chase alla New York's Art Students League, ha trascorso gran parte della sua carriera registrando i villaggi, corsi d'acqua e la campagna della contea di Bucks in uno stile unico. I suoi dipinti, segnati dai loro colori audaci, a volte arbitrari, sono stati descritti dai critici come possessori di “virilità... se si può usare quella parola nel commentare il lavoro di un pittore donna....” Infatti, le vivide sfumature che impiegava contrastavano con le tavolozze piÃ1 mute e naturalistiche dei suoi colleghi New Hope.
