Danaid replica l'originale progettato da Rodin per essere integrato nelle porte dell'inferno incompiute ispirate alla Divina Commedia di Dante. Rappresenta una delle Danaidi, le figlie mitologiche del re Danaus di Argos che sono state condannate per aver ucciso i loro mariti alla punizione infinita di riempire vasi senza fondo con acqua.
