Queste due piccole statuette, modellate da Pierre Blondeau dopo i disegni di François Boucher, illustrano un’innovazione conosciuta come “biscuit ware” dalla fabbrica di porcellana Sèvres. La fabbrica iniziò a produrre queste ceramiche non smaltate, probabilmente “scoperte” e popolarizzate da Madame de Pompadour, intorno al 1750. Impaziente di vedere il suo ordine ancora incompiuto in una visita alla fabbrica, ha chiesto di vedere i pezzi e è rimasto così impressionato dal loro aspetto marmo-come che ha ordinato loro di essere consegnati come erano.
