La vista di Venezia di Guardi era molto popolare tra i visitatori settecenteschi della città, ma non tutti erano dell'artista stesso: il suo laboratorio riproduceva composizioni e motivi basati sui suoi dipinti e disegni precedenti, mentre gli emulatori approfittavano del mercato per il gusto che aveva aiutato a impostare. Questi pendenti includono diversi elementi noti dai disegni di Guardi e sono stati molto probabilmente eseguiti da assistenti nel suo studio, lavorando sulla modesta scala che era perfettamente adatto a clienti alla ricerca di un souvenir, ma non l'impegno finanziario di un grande dipinto dal maestro.
