Un modello di telegrafo semaforo che utilizza paddle o tapparelle (miniature). L'oggetto ha una base di legno dipinta per assomigliare a pietra. Sulla base è una struttura in legno verniciato nero composto da tre sezioni rettangolari, quella centrale di cui è superiore a quelle ai lati. Ogni sezione comprende un “shutter” a cui è attaccata una corda. La corda viene utilizzata per spostare l'otturatore in posizioni diverse. Questo tipo di telegrafo è stato sviluppato da Francisco António Ciera per l'uso nella rete telegrafica della Royal Household portoghese. Il sistema aveva un vocabolario di 60.000 parole e frasi che, a seconda della posizione delle persiane (verticale o orizzontale), permise diverse combinazioni di codice da trasmettere.
