In questo acquerello vediamo due figure che viaggiano su un sentiero accidentato negli altipiani peruviani. La figura principale è un soldato, che porta un'arma, una chitarra e uno zaino sulla schiena. Viene seguito da un cosiddetto “rabona”, o seguace del campo, che trasporta un lanciatore avvolto nel suo scialle, e tiene un tappeto e un fascio legato. Queste donne hanno svolto un ruolo importante nei molti conflitti combattuti tra i signori della guerra conosciuti come “caudillos” durante i primi anni della repubblica. Essi sarebbero presenti alle necessità dei soldati; tendere, guarire e nutrirli, e portare i loro beni.
