Un 1628 olio su tela . saint serapion è raffigurato da zurbaran in a quasi-crucified posa , in piedi con ogni mano legata da corde e catena a un palo orizzontale sospeso . Il dipinto si ferma al figure's livello del ginocchio , mentre la tensione esercitata sulle sue braccia è indicata dalle pesanti pieghe pendenti delle tende della stoffa che pendono dalla spalla sinistra e dal braccio teso destro . Il santo è identificato da un testo su una piccola nota posta a sinistra dell'area del suo petto . l'opera fa un forte uso del chiaroscuro nella tradizione tenebrista spagnola di jusepe de ribera . Il predominio della vernice bianca utilizzata per rendere il tessuto crea un senso di tranquillità , mentre la tensione del dipinto deriva dall'ombra scura creata dalle pieghe profonde delle vesti .
