Gaspard Dughet era cognato di Poussin. Imparò a dipingere da lui e fu anche più tardi, confusamente, conosciuto come "Gaspard Poussin". I suoi paesaggi sono di solito versioni più selvagge delle visioni classiche di Poussin, più vicine al temperamento ai dipinti di Salvator Rosa, con acrobati rocciosi e alberi esplosione.
