Questo ritratto ha un telaio in rovere insolito che sembra essere stato costruito da un cabinetmaker piuttosto che un framemaker tradizionale. È stato probabilmente fatto per abbinare gli arredi e i dettagli architettonici di una stanza nella casa della sitter. Jane Crane Andrews (1840-1930), vista qui intorno al periodo del suo matrimonio, fu successivamente membro del consiglio di amministrazione del Woman's Hospital e della National Society of Colonial Dames. Suo marito, William, era un fiduciario del Metropolitan Museum of Art e organizzò la sua biblioteca nel 1880.
