L'immagine è stata prodotta nel laboratorio di Bellini e segue un cartone animato del maestro. Nell'esempio più distinto della composizione, nella National Gallery di Londra, le figure sono mostrate con lievi variazioni contro uno sfondo scuro, neutro invece di un paesaggio. Il quadro attuale è stato attribuito a Vincenzo Catena, ma le somiglianze al suo lavoro sono superficiali. L'immagine è stata male sovraccaricata. Di conseguenza, le forme sembrano schematiche.
