Heinrich Hansen è stato il primo artista danese che si è specializzato esclusivamente nella pittura architettonica. In questo dipinto, l'artista ha cercato di riprodurre la grande sala al Castello di Frederiksborg come ha guardato sotto il regno del re danese Cristiano IV. Diversi tipi di personale in abiti rinascimentali-periodo sono inclusi per sottolineare il quadro storico della pittura. Nello stesso anno il dipinto è stato completato, un grande fuoco ha distrutto grandi parti dell'interno dell'Oratorio del Re, La Rosa e Grande Sala. I dettagli interni degli studi architettonici dell’artista sono stati particolarmente utili nei successivi sforzi di ricostruzione.
