Lehmann eseguì diversi ritratti, dipinti e disegnati, del suo primo cugino Faustine Léo. Questo ritratto emula chiaramente l'esempio del suo maestro, Ingres, in particolare nella sua superficie liscia e lucida e i contorni croccanti della figura. Eppure la sua tavolozza intensamente saturata e l'atmosfera intima set Lehmann" lavorano a parte quello di Ingres. Il ritratto porta la sua cornice originale.
