Este grabado ukiyo-e pertenece a una serie de 54 grabados que relacionan actos de obras del teatro Kabuki con los capítulos de la famosa novela Genji monogatari. En este caso, con el capítulo 2, como aparece reflejado en el emblema de il príncipe Genji, que aparece a la derecha junto al título de la serie. Los emblemas del príncipe Genji (Genji-mon) figlio 54 emblemas rectilíneos, asociados con cada uno de los 54 capítulos de la novela Genji monogatari, de Murasaki Shikibu, obra maestra de la literatura japonesa. Los attori retratados en los yakusha-e (que es como de confession a los ukiyo-e sobre attories) de Kamigata destacan por su realismo, en cada obra es posible descubrir la verdadera apariencia, edad oapparenzao físico del attore.
