Una betulla in primo piano in lussureggiante prato erba, la sua corona diffusa; parete di giovane foresta (grova) sullo sfondo con pini distinti; paesaggio sormontato da cielo nuvoloso e nebbioso. Figure di tre donne contadine che raccolgono funghi visibili nel paesaggio – uno in piedi vicino alla betulla, due ricerca erba alta che fiancheggiano l'arbustio. Lo stile del lavoro fa riferimento ai paesaggi di artisti della scuola francese Barbizon, e dei paesaggi polacchi del XIX secolo. Distinto approccio veristico alla vita floreale e colori tonici con bruni arrugginiti che dominano in un suggestivo rendering di umori dell'autunno.
