Nel 1651, 1652 Ambasciatore Joan Cunaeus e la sua segretaria Cornelis Speelman viaggiarono a Isfahan in Persia per stimolare il commercio di cavalli e seta. Speelman ha descritto il tour, i ricevimenti di lusso e le visite in luoghi antichi. Entrambi i signori sono probabilmente accompagnati dal sultano di Bandar Abbas. Cunaeus indossa una vestaglia di seta, un regalo dalla shah.
