Questo dipinto è di due famosi maestri fiamminghi: Rubens e Brueghel. Hanno fatto diversi di questo tipo di pittura, che erano destinati come showpieces che combinavano il meglio dei due artisti. Anche se Brueghel era responsabile della composizione, Rubens ha iniziato il dipinto. Molto schizziosamente, in vernice sottile, dipinse Adamo ed Eva, l'albero, il cavallo e il serpente. Poi Brueghel prese le piante e gli animali, che dipinse con precisione enciclopedica nella finitura della vernice.
