Intorno al 1715, Watteau dipinse i suoi ciondoli La Cascade (collezione privata) e The Country Dance (Huntington Library and Museum, Pasadena) in formato rettangolare, ma dalla metà del 1780 entrambi erano stati tagliati per fare tondi. Poco prima degli anni 1820, un pittore sconosciuto creò queste copie degli originali di Watteau.
