Nel 1733, Oudry fu incaricato di produrre tre cartoni animati arazzo che illustrano le caccia di Luigi XV. Gli arazzi, tessuti nella fabbrica dei Gobelins, erano destinati a decorare la camera del re e l’anticamera e la camera del Consiglio presso lo Château de Compiègne. Nel 1738 fu deciso che la serie comprendeva nove cartoni animati; questi furono completati da Oudry nel 1746. Moïse de Camondo li acquistò dal commerciante d'antiquariato Jacques Seligmann nel 1921.
