Qui è la campagna danese come è eulogizzata nelle storie e poesie dell'età d'oro. Le reliquie del passato si diffondono su un paesaggio delicato, cielo blu con nuvole leggere e le delicate sfumature di verde e marrone che sono particolarmente osservabili in primavera e in autunno. Qui non c'è segno del dramma all'interno della natura che ha preoccupato artisti tedeschi e francesi contemporanei. Lundbye si concentra sulle emozioni patriottiche in questo incontro con una versione storica della campagna danese. Lundbye presenta Dragsholm Manor in mattoni rossi, come era nel Medioevo. Nel giorno del pittore – e ancora oggi – è un edificio barocco imbiancato.
