Carlin fece quattro voci consecutive nel suo libro del suo account durante l'ottobre 1846 per le sedute con i fratelli Allen. Li chiamava "Eldest", "Secondo", "Terzo", e "Giovane". Nel margine accanto ai nomi, Carlin scrisse: "In gruppo di mezza lunghezza $50.00". William Barton Franklin Vanderbilt, e Harry erano i figli della seconda figlia del commodoro Cornelius Vanderbilt, Ethelinda Vanderbilt e Daniel B. Allen. Vanderbilt Commissionò il ritratto di gruppo dei suoi nipoti.
