Cotman era un nativo di Norwich e un leader acquarellista e ecc. della scuola Norwich. Questa vivace scena documenta che cosa deve essere stata un'esperienza quotidiana per Cotman quando viveva in città. La sua superba dedizione è evidente nonostante la notevole sfumatura di colore, in particolare il blu del cielo. Molti dei suoi disegni architettonici contengono un forte senso di linea.
