Nerone era il quinto imperatore romano (AD 54-68), figliastro ed erede dell'imperatore Claudio. Divenne infame per le sue dissoluzioni personali e le sue stravaganze e, su dubbie prove, per la sua bruciatura di Roma e persecuzioni dei cristiani.
