José Casado del Alisal produsse questo piccolo disegno nel 1880. Ci sono tre schizzi preparatori noti per il dipinto. Il layout della scena è diverso in due di loro, ma il terzo, tenuto al Museo di Huesca, corrisponde alla composizione finale utilizzata dal pittore. Mostra come l'architettura inquadra la scena, e la spaziatura del pezzo finale, ma non le figure, che sono rappresentate da smudges di colore. Utilizza anche toni molto più scuri rispetto alla versione finale.
