Ognuna di queste pesche ha un difetto, e uno è anche diviso aperto. Si trovano a terra, non su un tavolo pulito. Questi “brutti” dettagli hanno reso il lavoro controverso nel suo giorno. Anche se pensiamo alla bellezza nella vita immobile come arrangiamenti perfetti di frutta e fiori idealizzati, Joseph Decker ha visto la bellezza in come le cose realmente sono. Fu influenzato dal noto scrittore inglese John Ruskin che disse: “L'arte non è uno studio della realtà positiva, è la ricerca della verità ideale. ”
