Dopo François L’invito di Ist, Leonardo da Vinci si stabilisce ad Amboise durante l’autunno del 1516. A 64 anni, attraversò le Alpi con due discepoli, Francesco Melzi e il suo fedele servitore milanese Batista de Vilanis. Dopo un'affascinante relazione tra Leonardo da Vinci e tre Re francesi (Charles VIII, Luigi XII e Francesco I), il Maestro italiano passa il 2 maggio 1519 nella sua stanza presso lo Château du Clos Lucé.
