Lo strumento è un mandolino milanese che presenta sei corsi a doppia corda e un pegbox a forma di solletico. Il corpo profondamente a volta a forma di pera è costituito da quindici costole di legno non identificato; la tavola sonora è un unico pezzo di affare con una rosetta a strati in legno e pergamena. Fingerboard motivi decorativi sono in osso e avorio. Questo esemplare presenta condizioni originali nella sua interezza, ad eccezione del ponte che è stato sostituito in una data successiva. I Presblers erano una dinastia di lute-maker tedeschi, il cui antenato Valentino (1658 - post 1726) si stabilì a Milano all'inizio del XVIII secolo. Qui continuò a produrre strumenti musicali molto probabilmente con l'aiuto dei suoi figli, Michele e Mattia, e in seguito sicuramente con l'opera di Francesco (1730-1780) e di suo figlio Giuseppe, che fece questo mandolino.
