Jonathan Dwight (1743-1831) è stato il bisnonno del stimato clero del Connecticut Jonathan Edwards. Il ritratto piuttosto insolito di Steward offre una visione chiara della città natale di Dwight di Springfield, Massachusetts, sullo sfondo e un marcatore sorprendente dell'aspetto della sitter: una grande mole pelosa sulla guancia sinistra.
