Quando il conte Carl Gustaf Wrangel ha commissionato a Skokloster di essere costruito, ha preso ispirazione dalla casa-design italiana, con logge e un cortile interno aperto. Quest'ultimo dà l'edificio pieno vantaggio della scarsa luce del giorno che la Svezia offre in inverno. L'inconveniente è il freddo; il cortile aperto dà alla temperatura esterna l'accesso completo all'interno. Sul disegno l'ingresso lato lago è a sinistra e l'ingresso parco a destra.
