Ganku divenne famoso per i suoi dipinti meticolosamente spazzolati di tigri. Ha studiato per la prima volta la pittura in stile Kano e poi padroneggiato il modo più naturalistico espiato dal pittore cinese Shen Nanpin (Shen Quan, 1682–1758) così come da artisti della scuola Maruyama-Shijō. Lo stile più vigoroso che ha sviluppato è diventato un marchio della scuola di Kishi, di cui è considerato il fondatore. Questo dipinto è firmato con il suo nome d'arte alternativo Utanosuke Ganku 歌楽助岸駒.
