Konoshima Okoku (1877-1938) è stato un pittore giapponese nato e attivo a Kyoto. Il tronco spesso sulla sinistra è un albero ciliegio. Anche se i fiori di ciliegio non sono raffigurati, petali sparsi a terra suggeriscono il sangue pieno. A differenza dei tradizionali schermi a foglia d'oro che sono dorati sulla superficie anteriore, questo lavoro è dorato sul lato inverso della seta. Il bagliore che mostra attraverso il tessuto di seta è sottomesso e ideale per rappresentare la luce solare morbida.
