Lan Ying è un pittore della dinastia Ming, nome di cortesia Tianshu, pseudonimo Diesou, nato a Qiantang (aka Hangzhou). Prende Shen Zhou come suo insegnante, e anche modelli sugli stili di maestri di Tang, Song e Yuan dinastie. Il suo preferito è Huang Gongwang. Prende pittura come la sua carriera per tutta la vita. È bravo a dipingere così come calligrafia, specializzata in fiori e uccelli, prugne e bambù, e particolarmente noto per dipinti paesaggistici. Ha finalmente uno stile proprio, con vigorosi pennellate, famoso come Shen Zhou e Wen Zhengming. È considerato come uno degli artisti più unici e influenti della dinastia Ming, Questa pergamena del paesaggio è dipinta nello stile di due antichi maestri in Cinque Dinastie, Dong Yuan e Ju Ran. Il famoso conoscitore Xu Bangda lo identifica come un livello superiore nell'età media di Lan.
