Si tratta di un esempio estremo di Leonardo “pensando aloud” su carta. Gli schizzi coprono molti dei soggetti che si stavano arruffando nella sua mente negli anni intorno al 1490: diagrammi geometrici; un cavallo di allevamento con il cavaliere che riecheggia il monumento Sforza, e un guerriero in piedi; due schizzi di una pressa a vite; un vecchio in profilo, il suo mantello si fonde con uno studio di alberi; una lama meticolosamente di erba, e un lily arum; una banca di uno schizzo a forma di cumulus Testo adattato da Leonardo da Vinci: Una vita nel disegno, Londra, 2018
