Leonardo è stato formato nel workshop dello scultore fiorentino Andrea Verrocchio, poi ha vinto molte prestigiose commissioni per le sculture. Tuttavia, a parte i conti contemporanei, alcune note autografiche e molti disegni magnifici rimangono pochissime tracce dello scultore Leonardo.
