Questa copia del famoso gruppo scultoreo del Laocoon nei Musei Vaticani proviene dalla cosiddetta Casa degli Omenoni, dove Leone Leoni conserva la sua collezione di gesso delle più importanti opere d'arte di Roma. Venne all’Ambrosiana con la Donazione di Bartolomeo Calchi e fu subito messa in mostra accanto alla copia della Pietà di Michelangelo. Il braccio destro, che è esteso piuttosto che piegato, mostra che questo cast è stato fatto dopo il restauro 1532-1533 dell'originale.
