Il tedesco Impressionista Lesser Ury, che ha esposto nel 1915 con la Secessione di Berlino, è stato uno dei pochi artisti ebrei che lavorano in Germania alla fine del XIX secolo. Anche se a volte esplorava temi ebraici, eccelleva nei paesaggi cittadini - strada, parco e scene di caffè - che esprimeva la solitudine e l'alienazione del moderno abitante urbano.
