Il ventilatore di Liu Deliu dipinto in una stretta gamma di colori inchiostri ritrae uno scoiattolo precariamente sospeso tra il suo obiettivo, un'uva succulenta, e la sua curiosità circa le intenzioni di un insetto che ha illuminato su questo oggetto. La vivacità di questo soggetto ha un fascino evidente. Nella sua iscrizione Liu dice che sta lavorando nello stile di Lu Shouping (Lu Zhi, 1496–1576), un artista Ming noto per le sue osservazioni sensibili trasposte in schizzi di fiori e uccelli inchiostro. Utilizzando l'animazione, il colore sottile e un formato decorativo, Liu trasforma un soggetto di interesse per gli studiosi-artisti dal Yuan in un'immagine popolare.
