Questa suggestiva vignetta è firmata da un certo Lu Kezheng, un artista oscuro che non è stato registrato nelle storie della pittura cinese. Concentrando la composizione nella parte inferiore del ventilatore, Lu lasciò la parte superiore avvolta nella nebbia, creando una sensazione di suspense, tenendo una vista nella lontananza. Il dipinto è datato secondo il ciclo sessant'anni del calendario cinese premoderno, quindi non è possibile sapere se è stato fatto nel 1591 o sessant'anni dopo nel 1651, anche se quest'ultimo sembra più probabile sulla base del suo stile.
