Al rigoroso, perfettamente rinascimentale Dürer, turbato dalla questione delle proporzioni del corpo umano, Cranach, nei suoi nudi, risponde liberandosi da ogni regola e da qualsiasi osservazione di accuratezza anatomica. Le sue figure sono allungate da ogni proporzione, sembrano senza osso e sono mostrate in pose teatrali e colpite. I corpi nudi, color avorio su uno sfondo scuro, emanano un'erotismo totalmente freddo e intellettuale. L'effetto è accentuato in questo lavoro, per esempio, dal gesto maligno con cui Eva tiene fuori la mela, con l'altra mano piegata innaturalmente per tenere il frondo che copre i suoi fianchi, ma soprattutto dall'espressione sly sul suo volto leggermente crudele.
