Le figure occupano solo la parte superiore dei due piccoli ritratti , la parte inferiore è occupata da lunghe iscrizioni . i dipinti ritraggono i due elettori in abiti solenni in linea con il loro status . in queste due piccole opere vediamo il tedesco artist's marcata predilezione per un realismo quasi popolare , che si ottiene per mezzo di un croccante , contorni forti e attenzione ai dettagli . a cranach la ricerca della bellezza del rinascimento italiano è assente ; i volti dei sovrani , sia nel volto che nell'espressione , sono portati al limite della caricatura .
