In questo lavoro magistrale e un po’ personale nel genere del mondo naturale, Mansur estese abilmente la gamma cromatica tra creatura e fogliame, sottolineando la meravigliosa capacità del camaleonte di fondersi con i suoi dintorni. I rami monocromatici formano una stagnola al camaleonte e al fogliame con cui si è armonizzato. Già nell’impiego del principe Salam (il futuro Jahangir), Mansur intendeva senza dubbio questa coinvolgente immagine per catturare l’attenzione del suo giovane patrono.
