Esther, la regina ebraica del sovrano persiano Ahasuerus (Xerxes), fornì un modello di coraggio e virtù salvando i suoi compatrioti da una trama per ucciderli. Su questo fronte di un petto (cassone) la sua festa di matrimonio è raffigurata come se si svolgesse in Firenze XV secolo. I principi della terra arrivano con Assuero, che si mostra anche sotto il portico che sposa Esther e poi ancora la saluta a tavola. Gli edifici si riferiscono strettamente all'architettura fiorentina contemporanea. La bottega che produsse questo pannello circa 1460–70 fu la più prestigiosa del suo genere in città.
