Quest'opera fu una delle tre opere del gruppo esposte dall'artista prima della sua morte da malattia alla giovane età di 36 anni subito dopo la fine della seconda guerra mondiale. Matsumoto è conosciuto come pittore che ha creato un liricismo tranquillo, raffinato e urbano, ed è anche conosciuto come uno degli artisti anti-guerra della seconda guerra mondiale che si oppone al militarismo degli anni di guerra in un saggio dal titolo
